Dear Rommy,I never imagined I would have to say goodbye to you so soon.From the day I became part of this family, you welcomed me with open arms. You never treated me like just your sister-in-law you made me feel like your sister, and I will always be grateful for that.The memories I will hold closest to my heart are the quiet ones we shared in Perth. Sitting beside you, feeding you, seeing your smile, and just spending that time together are moments I will treasure forever. Even though your illness took away your voice, your eyes never stopped speaking. They spoke of love, gratitude, strength, and everything you couldn't say out loud.One memory that will stay with me forever is when Aarav walked in after winning his medal and placed it around your neck. You couldn't tell him how proud you were, but you didn't have to. The look in your eyes said it all. They lit up with so much pride, and in that moment, we all knew exactly what you were thinking: "That's my nephew." Aarav will carry that memory with him for the rest of his life, just as I will.And then there's Tanish. He absolutely adored you. He loved sitting with you, holding your hand, and simply being close to you. You had such a gentle way about you that made him feel safe and loved, and that's something I'll never forget. The bond you shared was so special.You always teased me that I was your favourite sister-in-law, and I have to admit, I loved hearing that. I still think about the promise I made to bring you hot, fresh rotis with your favourite vegetables and daals.Seeing how much you enjoyed a simple home-cooked vegetarian meal always made me happy. Somehow we never got the chance, and that's something I'll always carry with me. I hope you know I never forgot that promise.Thank you for the love you gave our family, for the strength you showed every single day, and for reminding us all what courage really looks like. You fought so hard for so long. Knowing you're no longer in pain brings me some comfort, but it doesn't make saying goodbye any easier.We'll miss your smile, your gentle nature, and your quiet presence more than words can ever say.Rest peacefully, Rommy. My dear Rommy, my best friend in St. Xavier's all the way from small school. Thank you for the friendship, the great times spent growing up and the great birthday parties at your home. Thank you also for sharing your tiffin, the sandwiches that your mom would make were, till date, the most delicious I have ever tasted. We have not met each other in years but you always had a special place in my mother's and my heart. Travel well my friend and till we meet again, I wish you good luck and Godspeed.

We will miss your infectious cheeky smile Rommy. I do remember your visits to our house in Calcutta to collect John to go on your fun adventures. You will be missed by your family and friends who organised a beautiful farewell service for you. May you find peace in heaven.

An Unofficial Obituary for my brother Romulus “Romstarr” Menezes ⭐️ (Written by a little brother who still can’t believe he has to write this.)Rest in peace, my IRMÃO God knows you earned it.Although, if there’s one thing I know… you’ve probably already found the nearest crowd, organised a soup party, argued with someone about music, and somehow become the unofficial entertainment coordinator upstairs.Rommy never entered or left a doorway quietly.Not because he demanded attention, but because joy seemed to follow him around like an unpaid intern.To some he was Rommy. To my family, Romstarr ⭐️And honestly… if you gave yourself a nickname, Romstarr is objectively setting expectations very high but somehow you lived up to it bro.You laughed heartily. Loved fiercely. Fed people aggressively.If you left Rommy’s R-Home or his company thirsty and hungry, that was probably your own fault.You were the sort of bloke who would drive people across town, sit through my band rehearsals, take everyone out for a feed before and after, and somehow act like you were the lucky one.Northbridge. Freo. York, Manjura, Long drives. Early mornings, waking up the neighbours way before Bryan Adams . Endless conversations. Jacussin till the break of dawn in peak winter with Shola Ama on repeat crooning “you might need somebody too” And somehow, we managed to achieve together one of our greatest life yearnings :Watching Steely Dan together at Rod Laver stadium in Melbourne and singing confidently in perfect B2B unison. Wishing bro Cedric was there 🤗. You always went over and above to get us to jam together 🙏The one track that feels impossible to separate from you now is “New Frontier.”Maybe because it was never really about endings.To me, it’s about possibility. About pushing forward. About imagining life beyond what’s directly in front of you.You taught me to swim and drink chlorinated water at DI and Marine Club, taught me to ride your BSA SLR Aristocrat pushbike, taught me to respect the holy rules of handling your Butterfly TT racket.Apparently, both required discipline. I was average at both, you were annoyingly good at everything.I should stop now 🛑Your battle in later years was unfair beyond words.Your own heart would have broken seeing yourself trapped in a body that stopped cooperating long before your spirit did.But somehow …and this was always your superpower you soldiered on and still smiled.You still found ways to communicate that smile that frown, that twitch spoke volumes.You still made people feel welcomed.You still had enough electricity in that grin to spike that grid and light up South Lakes and Leeming.Brother to brotherYou once told me you hoped I’d become a better father than you.A better husband than you.Truth is… I don’t know if I could even walk half a mile in your shoes.Because when others close stepped back, you naturally stepped forward.You never checked if people were family, friend or stranger.Your Humanity and empathy flowed freely.Thank you uncle Colin for everything you did for Rommy in-spite of the challenges you carry.Your Girls always came firstRochelle your constant, your ride or die.
