WIll Miss your stories happy to have had a chat couple weeks ago RIP Paul

My brother Paul. Paul was born November 23 1943. He joined his brothers john and me Alan. John was the eldest. Paul was always a bit of a loner.And it was at age 11 he passed the exam that sent him to the grammar school. Our mum had a struggle john had just left school and was an apprentice electrician prior to entering the navy.i was getting near to leaving school. It was at the grammar school that Paul's love of rugby started. I believe it was in his final year when Paul told mum he wanted to join the Navy ,which he did entering as an artificer apprentice.upon completion of his apprenticeship he served on a number of ships before signing up for submarines. Near to the end of his time in the Royal navy he told mum he was transferring to the Australian navy.He sat an officers exam before he left and the result was forwarded to Australia. Paul was called up by the powers that be and given the good news of the exam result ,however he was also told to come back in 6 months giving him time to see how the Australian navy was run.which he duly did. Paul ,Enid and family moved around Autralia a bit ..and by the time it came for Paul to retire he had made Commander.here in UK all the family were so proud of him. He took a job with a firm involved in the building of Australian own submarines and Paul had the job travelling around the various firms supplying parts etc. One such company was based in America and I knew I could expect a phone message informing me that he would be landing at Heathrow Sunday morning at 6.30am and he would like a full English breakfast and a roast beef dinner.in between it was a visit to the ,,Queens arms our local pub in the evening it was the jolly gardeners another local pub.then monday I drove him back to Heathrow for his flight back to Australia. Another thing of Paul's was if he was in UK at Easter time Paul would take the kiddies up to our local park where he had the kiddies rolling hard boiled eggs down the slope and then eat them. An incident that Paul was so keen being reminded about was when my 2 daughters beat Paul's 2 boys at cricket. There was another incident that springs to mind ,it was when Barbara and I were staying with Paul .He woke one sunday morning and announced that we were going fishing, ha had been to the supermarket earlier and got all the gear. We arrived at our destination and started to get the rods set up Paul baited my so I cast into the water line barely touched the water when there was a fish attached Paul couldnt believe it,let alone me. He even asked the local fishermen who were gutting their catch if one of them had put a fish on my line. I'm really going to miss visiting Australia I think you have a lovely country and sadly thru I'll health I'm no longer able to visit Andrew and Christopher and the girls I'm going to miss my younger brother who I grew to love more as the years mellowed mboth of us I going to miss the occasional glass of red wine or drop of rum I shared with him Brother rest in peace until we meet up for a tot or two Love you brother xxx

Uncle Paul, l was gobsmacked when Andrew rang to say you had passed. I only saw you and Chris last year, and we reminisced about our time in England where we met you and Enid and the boys. You are Kirra's godparents and our families were very close. You and Enid watched my 3 children when l flew over to see my hubby, Roger, in Hong Kong. Enid supported me when you men were in Scotland. You were one of my favourite people and l will never forget you and your family. I will miss your smiling face and that accent you never lost. There are so many stories l can tell people. My children also remember everything about you. I know you and Roger will be up in heaven putting the world to right. You and him had so much to talk about., and your memory for dates was fabulous.l will raise my drink to you and Enid, knowing Roger will be on your shoulder and you boys debating some problem.. You both supported my family when Roger died so suddenly, Now l can return the favour. Rest in Peace my friend. You have my hubby and my son with you. Give them a big hug from me , and we will all meet up again one day. I love you all, RIP beautiful people. Another big loss to our world. xxxx😘😘

Paul, so sorry to learn of you crossing the bar. It has always been with extreme pleasure and respect I would recall our encounters. The number of deep discussions over Collins Combat system checkouts and first of class firings were always entertaining and enlightening. The Squadron has lost a true gentleman. Davo
